Purpose:

New state-of-the-art small animal practice seeking a full-time certified veterinary technician to join our team. The successful candidate will practice high quality, compassionate patient care and have an excellent rapport with clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with veterinarian and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and client service.
  • Help veterinarians with patient exams, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring all equipment and supplies are prepared and ready.
  • Assist the veterinary surgeon with surgical procedures, including preparation and maintenance of the surgical suite, and preparation of patients for surgery.
  • Administer anesthesia, monitor patients under anesthesia, and provide post-operative care.
  • Provide compassionate nursing care to pre and post-surgical patients, including post-surgical management, IV catheterizations, and fluid therapy.
  • Operate and maintain surgical equipment, including monitoring and recording equipment, anesthesia machines, and surgical instruments.
  • Communicate with pet owners, explain treatment plans and post-operative care, provide updates on patient status, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient charts, including pre-operative and post-operative notes.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and friendly disposition
  • Must be a Certified Veterinary technician with a valid license in WY state.
  • At least 2 years of experience in veterinary surgical nursing, including anesthesia and monitoring, surgical preparation, and post operative care.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.
