At Prairie Hills Animal Hospital, our veterinary team in Cheyenne, WY believes great care begins with understanding the bond you share with your pet. Founded by Dr. Amanda Staples Hartman and Dr. Taylor Barker, our hospital was created to provide thoughtful veterinary care rooted in empathy, clear communication, and strong relationships with the families we serve.

Our veterinarians and support staff work together to care for dogs, cats, and small mammals using modern diagnostic tools, including digital radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, and a dedicated dental suite with dental radiographs. From wellness visits to surgery, dental care, and boarding, our team is here to partner with you in protecting your pet's health throughout every stage of life.

  • Taylor

    Dr. Taylor Barker Veterinarian

    Dr. Taylor Barker is originally from North Carolina, where she attended North Carolina State University. She met her husband, Joshua, after moving to Mississippi to attend veterinary school at Mississippi State University. Dr. Barker previously practiced in Cheyenne and northern Colorado before taking a short break from working to focus on caring for her little girl, Finley. Dr. Barker is happy to be back in practice in Cheyenne at Prairie Hills Animal Hospital!

    When not working, Dr. Barker enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, going to the beach, and spending time outdoors. On the weekends, you can find her cheering on NC State (GO PACK!) and the Seattle Seahawks. Dr. Barker’s family is made up of two spunky, old dachshunds, a doofy labrador, two snuggly cats, and more chickens than she’d care to admit.

  • Amanda

    Dr. Amanda Staples Hartman Veterinarian

    Dr. Amanda Staples Hartman is excited to be working back in Cheyenne, in the community where she grew up. She graduated from Central High School, and then attended the University of Wyoming, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. She then attended Colorado State University for veterinary school and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2015. Dr. Staples enjoys the wide variety of cases in veterinary medicine, but she has particular interests in preventative medicine, internal medicine, and ultrasound.

    In her free time, Dr. Staples enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, camping, attending UW football games, and spending time with her husband and fur family of three dogs, two cats, three lizards, and one horse.
